‘Saging Tindok,’ which I earlier thought does not produce enough suckers for replanting, turned out to be a prolific producer of suckers after all.
Tissue Culture Propagator Jay Mearns who checked on the two stalks of ‘Saging Tindok’ in my farm yesterday found over 30 suckers.
These suckers could be harvested later and propagated in the laboratory through tissue culture to produce thousands of planting materials.
‘Tindok’ is an exotic banana variety which produces only a few fingers but are so large that one person could not possibly consume by himself.
It is an excellent variety for cooking and for banana chips.
Although it is not widely propagated, “Saging Tindok,” when mass produced, could be a source of food for Fililino families.
With the suckers from the “Tindok” in my farm, I intend to propagate thousands of Meriplants which could be shared with other farmers eight months from now.
Thank God for experts like Jay Mearns
