HONGKONG OFWs FILL UP KENNEDY TOWN HALL FOR FORUM ON AGRO-INDUSTRIAL INVESTMENTS

Some 200 overseas workers from North Cotabato, including a few from other provinces, filled up the Kennedy Town Hall of Hongkong’s Bayanihan Center for the Forum on the OFW’s Investments Program which I presented.
The Hongkong-based North Cotabato OFWs, some of whom have been working in the former Crown Colony for over 20 years, clapped and cheered as the investments program proposal was bared before them.
The forum started at a little past 1 p.m. with only about 100 participants inside the room but towards late afternoon, the group swelled to about 200 as more participants came in.
In the presentation I made before the OFWs, I proposed that they organize themselves into one solid and united group and identify an investments field, like an oil palm plantation.
Under the proposal, once organized, the OFWs will identify the people who will represent them in the partnership with the provincial government.
The provincial government will provide a counterpart fund to the investments project of the OFWs.
The investments program for the OFWs is intended to ensure that the overseas workers from North Cotabato would have something to look forward to when they retire while at the same time create jobs for the local people.
The Hongkong OFWs also manifested their support for the Piso-Piso Para Sa Pagbabago by allocating their personal funds to be used in communicating with their relatives back home in North Cotabato to explain the issues involved in the coming elections.
The forum ended at past 5 p.m.
