I made a quick trip to Dagupan City today to meet with former Cong. Eric Acuña and check how organic fertilizer, especially his AMO Organic fertilizer, could help the Agriculture sector.
As the prices of inorganic fertilizer, including Urea, had doubled or tripled, I wanted to check on the capacity of the Organic Fertilizer sector in filling up the void created by the high prices of commercial fertilizer.
On the way back to Quezon City, I dropped by the Fish Landing area by the bank of the Bonuan River to buy a few kilos of the world-renowned Bangus Dagupan.
The price per kilo of the Class A, two pieces per kilo, is P145 which is just fair for a quality product.
What fascinated me most was the skill of the fish classifier who segregated the Bangus by their weight.
The years of experience allows him to estimate the weight by just lifting the fish. He then flips the fish into plastic bins where the Bangus is segregated according to weight.
Bangus Dagupan or Bonuan Bangus is a favorite of Filipino expatriates, especially those living in the US.
