ighest Yield 17.8-Tons! 6 Central Luzon Farmers Harvest 15 Tons/Hectare

H
Those who say that the Philippines could not achieve Rice Sufficiency should read this.
Six rice farmers from Central Luzon who joined the Masagana 300 (cavans) Production competition sponsored by hybrid rice seed producer SL Agritech breached the 15-tons per hectare yield threshold.
In fact, the consistent topnotcher, Danilo Arcales Bolos of Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija posted the highest yield of 17.8-Metric Tons.
The secret?
All of their farms are located in areas served by an irrigation system, they all used hybrid rice seed SL-8H and they implemented correct fertilization and pest control protocols.
Their harvest is higher by 11 to 13 metric tons over the national average of 4-metric tons.
This should give our lawmakers and policy makers a clear message that the Philippines could achieve Rice Sufficiency and the only thing that they need to do is to learn from the experiences of our farmers.
