Ten days after a team of Garlic and Onion experts from San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte taught Cotabato farmers how to plant Alliums, we are seeing very encouraging results.
The native Ilocos variety Garlic have started to sprout while the Ramgo Red Dragon Bulb Onion in the seed beds are growing well.
These developments prompted us to undertake expansion of the Garlic farms to at least two hectares.
Tomorrow, Ramgo Red Dragon Bulb Onion Seeds will be delivered and planting will commence next week.
By the second week of October the Ilocano farmers and technicians from the Dept. Of Agriculture Region 1 will return to North Cotabato to conduct lectures and actual demonstration on Garlic and Onion farming.
