Yesterday, I walked into the National Bookstore in SM Ecoland in Davao City and bought 5 meters each of red, yellow, blue and white ribbons, rubber bands and pair of scissors.
With these simple and low-cost materials (ribbons are priced P4 per meter), I fashioned my own version of the national colors to symbolize the national call for Davao City Mayor Rody Duterte to run for President.
Today, my old SUV is flying the Run, Rody, Run colors and I will give out the extra ribbons I made to 10 friends.
In return, I will ask the 10 friends who will receive the ribbons from me to make 10 more ribbons which they will give each to friends who then will be asked to give another 10 to their friends.
I urge those who believe in Rody Duterte to do the same.
We could call this the Run Rody Run Ribbon Chain.
On Sept. 26, in the launching of the “Call for the Filipino People’s President,” those who could not come to the Burnham Greens in Luneta who tie these ribbons in front of their homes to show our support for change in the country.
Those who have the resources could make more ribbons which could be given out to motorcycle riders, tricycle and jeepney drivers and even individual car owners.
Not only will this signify that we are asking Duterte to run for President for the sake of the country represented by the colors, this would also show a united people who dream of peace, security and discipline.
