Learning Site! Soybeans, Sorghum Demo In Luvimin, Kidapawan City

Starting next week, we will develop an 8-hectare area in Barangay Luvimin, Kidapawan City as a Learning Site for a Crop Rotation Farming System using Soybeans and Sorghum.
The area is owned by the family of my neighbor, Jay Morales, who wanted to depart from the monocropping system which involved endless planting of Corn.
When I explained to him that planting Soybeans once a year followed by two croppings of Sorghum would not only give him assured income and market but also rehabilitate his soil, Jay became very interested.
The Crop Rotation Farming System is a technology which I would like to introduce in areas where farmers had been planting Corn with no let up.
This has resulted in the deterioration of soil fertility thus reducing the yield while requiring higher inputs.
The Morales Farm will serve as the Learning Site for farmers in the 2nd and 3rd Congressional Districts of North Cotabato.
The first Learning Site that we established is in Pigcawaran, Alamada, Cotabato.
