Let’s Walk the Talk! Foliar Fertilizer Producers In Field Performance Test

As our way of supporting local foliar fertilizer producers, the Southseas Agri-Aqua Ventures, Inc., the small group that I, former Senator Panfilo Lacson and five other friends have formed, has allowed the application of at least three foliar fertilizer brands in our Sorghum fields.
This will test the effectiveness of these Foliar Fertilizer Brands in providing nourishment to our Sorghum and increasing the yield.
In our demonstration farm in San Vicente, Makilala, North Cotabato, two Foliar Fertilizer Brands – AMO and Norinano – have participated and the early indicators point to positive results.
The Sorghum in the plot where we used Norinano and AMO had started flowering at 48 days old, much earlier than the two other plots which did not receive the application.
The Sorghum heads are also bigger than those in the two plots which did not receive AMO or Norinano foliar fertilizers.
Both Norinano and AMO were applied as supplemental nutrients to the Yara fertilizer which we used in coating our seeds before planting and in the first and second application at 15 days and 30 days of age.
In our field operations in Polomolok, South Cotabato, we used Vitagro carageenenan-based foliar fertilizer in an area of about 14.5 hectares.
Since they performed well in our demo farms, we will now extensively use both AMO and Norinano in the bigger plantation areas.
I know that there are other little-known Filipino Foliar Fertilizer makers who just need a chance to show how their products work and we will give them a chance to do that in our Sorghum fields.
Our protocol is to coat our seeds with Yara fertilizer before planting and then use the drone to broadcast Yara granular fertilizer at 15 and 30 days stage.
After that it will be foliar fertilizer spraying using the DJI Agras T30 Agri Drone at least 4 times before harvest.
