Vietnam Imports Husked Rice To Supply World Demand
Vietnam, one of the world’s biggest exporter of milled rice, has already started to import husked or unmilled rice from other countries.
These data coming from Statista indicate that Vietnam’s local production could no longer fill up the increasing demand for Vietnam rice.
It will only be a matter of years when the global rice production will no longer be enough for the world’s rice eating nations.
This is the scenario that the “Quick-Fix” and short-sighted Economic Managers of the past administration led by then Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez failed to see when they pushed for the Rice Tariffication Law which made the Philippines the World’s Number 1 Rice Importer.
Now, somebody will have to clean up the mess they made of the Philippine Rice Industry.
It is not going to be easy but it has to be done.
Everybody, regardless of political color and affiliation, must help.
