Mali ka, JC! Agriculture Is Backbone Of Philippine Economy

Spread the love

If only we had less swivel-chair economic experts and planners, our country would have prospered a long time ago.
Self-proclaimed economic expert JC Punongbayan ridiculed those who say that the Philippines is an agricultural country citing its alleged minuscule contribution to GDP.
So, Agriculture’s contribution to the GDP is a measly 9.5%?
Teka muna. Let us first define Agriculture.
Agriculture’s contribution to the GDP should not be quantified through the mere value of the raw materials produced by farmers and fishermen.
It should include the whole value chain, from the jobs created in the production and processing, to the people involved in the distribution and marketing and even the businesses which offer food.
Looking backward, why do industrial companies manufacture tractors and farm implements?
They were made for agriculture, idiots!
The Philippines is an Agricultural country. That’s a fact.
It is more than just the 9.5% GDP contribution that you cited.
