Just as I was preparing to receive the first batch of our tissue cultured plantlets of “Tindok” by October this year, I accidentally met today an old friend, businessman Ruben L. See, who is in the banana chips business.
Ruben, a very humble man who had steadfastly supported the Banana Industry, is now the President of the Philippine Food Processors and Exporters Organization (PHILFOODEX).
When I saw him, I was immediately reminded of the “Tindok” plantlets in the Tissue Culture Laboratory of Jay Mearns in Kidapawan City and the need to prepare a market when we start growing this exotic banana variety (sn: Musa paradisiaca).
“Many had been asking about “Tindok” but we do not have enough supply to sustain commercial “Tindok” chips production,” Ruben told.
I promised to send Ruben samples of the “Tindok” so he could conduct taste test.
This early, however, I know that the “Tindok” will pass the test because I myself can attest that the chips taste better than the commercial Potato chips.
With a ready and reliable market, we are ready to produce our “Tindok.”
