If followers and fans of this page, wondered why I had not posted anything for two days, the reason is I visited an area where the internet signal was weak and sometimes non-existent.
I and my staff went up to Dado, Alamada, North Cotabato, a mountainous town just south of Lanao del Sur and the home of the now fast becoming famous Asik-Asik Falls.
Although I was not properly prepared for the trek down the falls as I was in my leather shoes and denim pants, I was not able to resist the temptation to take a look at the falls.
It was a magical experience.
It was amazing to see water gushing out of crevices by the side of a deep ravine and falling into the small river which is actually one of the headwaters of the Libungan River.
Looking at it, I believe that the falls actually could be an underground river whose water gushes out of the side of a cliff.
Or it could be simply a huge spring with water coming out of the side of the ravine.
There are actually two other falls in the area, the Ngernger Falls which I visited many years ago and is located upstream of Asik-Asik and the Tirin-tirin Spring where water flows out of the side of a mountain.
The Asik-Asik Falls could indeed be a great tourist attraction in North Cotabato.
But behind the discovery of this beautiful spring, there is an ugly story which the people who have long lived in the area, long before the Asik-Asik Falls were opened to the public in August last year, would like me to look into.
In our next post, we will share with our followers this ugly story behind Asik-Asik Falls and the grievances of the people who own the area against the local government units who have taken over the area.
