Doctors from the Maharlika Medical Foundation led by Dr. Benedict Valdez will conduct medical examinations and conduct on-field surgical operations in Barangay Bannawag, Kabacan on Feb. 2 as part of the continuing “Misyon Pagmamahal” program which I and Senator Chiz Escudero have been supporting all these years.
Residents of Kabacan and the neighboring towns who have cysts, myoma, goiter, cataract, harelip or cleft palate and meningocele will either be operated on right in the makeshift operating rooms in Bannawag or will be screened and brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center, formerly Davao Medical Center.
Dr. Valdez will be assisted by veteran surgeons who are members of the medical foundation which has been assisting poor patients who could not afford the expensive surgical operations in private hospitals.
In the Bannawag, Kabacan mission, Puerto Princesa Mayor Edward S. Hagedorn, who is eyeing a seat in the Philippine Senate, will extend his support through additional medicines.
He will also personally witness the opening of the mission Saturday morning.
Kabacan Mayor George Tan and Bannawag Barangay Chairman Gerson Laoagan will be present to receive the Puerto Princesa Mayor.
The Kabacan Municipal Health Team supported by the Mlang Medical Team which will include my daughter, Dr. Maria Krista Pinol-Solis, will assist the Maharlika Medical Foundation doctors.
About 1,000 patients are expected to be served during the one day activity.
