Even in faraway Hong Kong where he has a brief stop-over before his flight home, Davao City Mayor Rody Duterte, who learned of the bombing incident in M’lang last night through his intelligence network, sent his sympathies and condolences to the victims to Mayor Lito Pinol.
Duterte, through his executive assistant Bong Go, also pledged support for the hospitalization of those seriously injured in Sunday night’s bombing which killed three teenage boys and wounded at least two dozen more.
“The Mayor advised that those who need more specialized medical attention because of their serious injuries should be sent to SPMC (Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City) so they could be attended to by specialists,” Bong Go told me early this morning.
“We will do our best to attend to their needs,” he added.
Mayor Duterte has actually helped many patients from North Cotabato through his Lingap sa Mahirap Program which extends support to poor patients.
Information on the bombing in M’lang was received by Mayor Duterte last night while he was having dinner with friends in a restaurant in Hong Kong.
I did not join them for the dinner because I had to finish writing my articles for this page and the information was relayed to me by Bong Go through text message.
Mayor Duterte assured M’lang Mayor Lito Pinol of his support for the victims.
