MORNING HAS BROKEN, THIS IS THE DAY!

Johannesburg, South Africa – I woke up very early today to the sad news of Jundy Maraon’s loss in New Jersey, USA.

But as the first rays of the sun broke through the horizon of this vast country South Africa, I realized that the world does not end with one setback.

Every morning, as the sun rises, life offers new and exciting opportunities.

I rue over the loss of Jundy because I feel he was just a little short of luck.

Looking back, had he knocked down Juan Carlos Payano of the Dominican Republic earlier in the third round, he could have ended the fight there and would have won the world title.

As fate would have it, Maraon knocked down and hurt Payano just as the round was coming to its end and it saved the Dominican Republic fighter allowing him to continue and score a TKO in the 7th as Jundy obviously had ran out of gas.

But such is life. The window of opportunities opens in split seconds. If you miss it, the order of events which happen in your life changes.

The beauty of life, however, is that when you continue to work hard, to persevere, to make sacrifices and if you are dedicated to what you would like to achieve, the opportunity will definitely come.

Early today, I looked through the glass windows of my hotel room and took pictures of the first rays of the sun which signaled the start of another exciting day – Saturday, June 15.

Today, Edrin “The Sting” Dapudong, 27, farmer’s son from Pag-asa, M’lang, North Cotabato will have the chance to win the world championship and realize his and our dream of winning the first world boxing title for North Cotabato.

The opportunity is there right in front of him. The next move is his and his alone.
