Mother Nature’s Magic CURE-ALL ‘PALAGTIKI’ GRASS IS EVERYWHERE IN MY FARM By Manny Piño

I could barely remember who it was who told me that the long-ignored grass “Palagtiki” which is internationally known as “Paragis” is an herbal cure to many common diseases like urinary tract infection, hypertension and diabetes, among others.

There are many anecdotal testimonies on the effectiveness of “Paragis” as an herbal remedy but I largely ignored these.

“Paragis” or “Palagtiki” grows wild and aplenty in many areas in Mindanao, including in my farm in Kidapawan City.

It is a tough and hardy grass which grows even in toughest conditions.

Chicken and dogs, including Carabaos and Cows, love to eat its young leaves and I never really understood why.

It was only recently when I asked my daughter, Dr. Ma. Krista Piñol-Solis, to do a research for me and she indeed validated that there are many claims on the health benefits of “Paragis.”

Although there are no specific scientific studies and medical researches on “Paragis,” I checked my farm yesterday for its presence.

I was surprised to discover that the grass grows just about anywhere in my farm.

Just to satisfy my curiousity, I asked my farm help to gather some for me and had these boiled with the juice flavored with honey and Calamansi.

What I had was a refreshing tea-like drink.

I am a nature lover and I believe God gifted us with so many natural cures which we largely ignore.

For example, who would have thought that thr Tawa-tawa would prove to be an effective cure for dengue.

I thank God for Mother Nature’s magical healing powers.
