Nationwide Lectures! Top Rice Producer Shares Secrets To Record Harvest

The country’s top rice farmer, who recently posted a record harvest of 19-metric tons per hectare, has offered to share his secrets to historic high yields with other rice farmers all over the country.
Rice Farmer Danilo Arcales Bolos, an engineer and former Overseas Filipino Worker who turned to rice farming over 20 years ago in Sta. Rosa, Nueva Eciija, made the offer to conduct regional workshops with the support of National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Administrator Eddie Guillen.
Actually, Dan Bolos started sharing experiences with other farmers when I invited him to the Province of Cotabato where he had two engagements with local rice farmers in my hometown, Mlang, and in Midsayap earlier this year.
When I had dinner with NIA Adm. Guillen in Davao City over a month ago, I brought up the program of inviting Dan Bolos to speak before members of the Irrigators Associations all over the country.
Administrator Guillen liked thr idea and talked with Dan Bolos by phone and both agreed to collaborate in holding a nation-wide educational tour on the secrets to high yields.
At that time, however, Dan Bolos, was still busy with his farm in Barangay Tagpos, Sta.Rosa as he was personally supervising the planting.
The other day, news of another breakthrough in high rice yield by Dan Bolos was announced with a historic and unprecedented harvest of 19-metric tons per hectare.
That yield is five-fold the national average yield per hectare of 3.9-metric tons.
Dan Bolos in previous lectures said his use of both organic and inorganic soil nutrients and Fish Amino Acid contributed to his high yields.
He also used hybrid rice seeds produced by SL Agritech, a Filipino rice seeds production company owned by Filipino businessman, Henry Lim Bon Liong.
The Regional Lectures are expected to start soon to be scheduled by the NIA with members of the IAs and other farmers associations in attendance.
