One of the most outstanding qualities of hens which belong to the Oriental Breed called “Pauwakan” is their “mothering” capability.
Left in the yard to fend for themselves, they will lay eggs which if left untouched for about 15 days will be hatched by the hens themselves.
The “Pauwakan” hens are excellent sitters because of their huge bodies and wings which could cover up to 12 eggs.
The hatching rate is as high as 90% and it is not surprising to see hens hatch all of her eggs.
This is the reason why I am looking for “Pauwakan” hens to buy.
I intend to use them as natural sitters because not even a modern digital incubator could beat Mother Nature.
