Early this morning, I checked on our Garlic Demo Farm in San Vicente, Makilala, Cotabato.
After over 80 days, the Garlic planted by Ilocano farmers from San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte had formed cloves.
The size of the cloves, however, is far from ideal.
The cloves are smaller compared to the ones from Ilocos and this could be because right after planting, heavy rains fell for a long period.
The field was covered by weeds for several weeks depriving the growing Garlic of the needed nutrients.
The good news, however, is that it had been proven that Garlic could be grown in Cotabato.
We just have to improve on our farm management protocols to get bigger and better quality Garlic cloves.
