Practical Farming! ‘Bunga’ As Dewormer: Effective, Inexpensive

There is a lot to learn from the wisdom of our ancestors, especially in farming.
One of these lessons is the use of natural dewormers for chicken which include Papaya seeds, Siling Labuyo and the young nuts of the Betel Nut, popularly known as “Bunga.”
“Bunga” is one of the three components in the chewing recipe of old people, the two others being Lime and the leaves of a vine called “Dahon.”
It was from my grandfather that I learned to use the young meat of the Betel Nut as chicken dewormer.
For younger chicken, we slice the nut meat into 8 parts and 4 parts for older chicken.
Given individually and orally, the Betel Nut expels all kinds of intestinal worms in chicken in 5 to 10 minutes.
I have planted a few palms in my farm but right now I am propagating more because of the huge savings it would give backyard chicken raisers.
Imagine, if I have 2,000 chicken which need deworming every three months.
That is basically P56,000 that I save every year because an effective deworming pill now costs P7 each.
