Practical Farming! Shaping Elevated Plots With 6-Blade Disc Plow

Last week, I posted a video of a new implement used in shaping elevated plots for vegetable farming, especially in areas prone to water-logging.
The Rotating Disc Harrow, however, has two drawbacks – first, it is expensive costing about P450,000 per unit, a price which obviously is quite stiff for small farmers, and second, it has many moving parts thus it is prone to mechanical troubles.
Yesterday, I came up with an idea of using just a small 6-Blade Disc Plow attached to our 50-HP CLAAS tractors in shaping elevated plots.
The Disc Plow-equipped tractor made two opposite passes in an area of about 1.5-meters throwing the soil to the center thus creating the elevated plots.
The plots are not as well-shaped as the ones made using the Rotating Disc Harrow but it is good enough to make sure that the vegetables are protected from water logging.
Besides, the price of the 6-Blade Disc Plow is just about P140,000, much lower than the Rotating Disc Harrow.
