Israel: land area – 2.2-million hectares 60% desert, only 4 major rivers: Food Exporter.
Philippines: land area – 30-m hectares, hundreds of rivers, 36,298 kms coastline: Food Importer.
Israel’s leaders made a choice: They invested in water management and conservation, research and development and considered food security as part of their national security plan.
In contrast, our economic managers prevailed in spreading the lie that the Philippines could never achieve food self-sufficiency because we do not have the land area.
Importation is what they offer as a solution.
Now, our legislators are crafting laws which would favor importation over local production.
Let us take the road to Food Self-Suffiiency.
If Israel was able to do it, the Philippines could make it happen, after all, we are also God’s Chosen People.
The choice is ours to make.
