Marikina Congressman Bayani Fernando is one of the political leaders I really admire but this time, I have to call him out for proposing a ridiculous law in response to a temporary health issue.
Cong. Fernando has submitted a House Bill which would discourage the age-old tradition of kissing the hands of elders and handshakes.
He said “the medical profession has established that the traditional, well-meaning and innocent gesture of handshake transmits diseases and is a risk to one’s health.”
So, I will tell my children and grandchildren, nephews and nieces to abandon our family tradition of kissing the hand of our elders because of health risks?
Kung totoo na ang pagmamano at pakikipagkamay ay may peligro sa kalusugan, eh di dapat ang dami nang namatay na mga apo na nagmamano at mga socialites na mahilig sa beso-beso.
I’m sorry my friend, Cong. Bayani, but I believe you have gone out of bounds with this ridiculous proposal.
There are more important issues which require your legislative support like the implementation of stiffer penalties for the violation of forestry and environmental laws to prevent flooding.
Or laws which would protect our farmers and fishermen from massive importation like the review and amendment of the Rice Tariffication Law.
Please give our taxpayers their money’s worth by passing sensible legislations.
