For the first since its organization over 40 years ago, former and some active members of the Philippine News Agency (PNA) gathered in an emotional but happy reunion yesterday.
I actually joined PNA in 1978 as beat reporter and later as night shift news editor until 1983 when I moved over to Tempo, a tabloid of the Manila Bulletin, as copy editor.
It was in the five years that I was with PNA that my newswriting and editing skills were honed and sharpened.
That was also the period when I established very close relationships with people who have remained my friends until today.
Yesterday, I felt immeasurable joy seeing old friends again.
Many of them are old, balding, white haired and walking with the aid of a cane.
These were the people who touched my life and helped mold me into what I am today.
I will be forever thankful to them.
