In the cold highlands of Rangayen, Alamada, the Sorghum and Soybeans which we planted in trial farms were shorter and matured longer than those that we propagated in the midlands and lowlands.
The same Soybeans which grow up to my waistline were only knee-high in the highlands while the Sorghum which grew to about 5 to 6-feet in the lowlands was only was high as my shoulders.
Both plants also matured longer reaching up to four months, compared to only 105 to 110 days in the midlands and lowlands.
These results will guide us now in focusing our Sorghum and Soybeans production in the midlands where at about 500 to 600-MASL, both plants were performing well.
We will shift to Bulb Onion and Garlic in the areas were we previously planted Soybeans and Sorghum because based on the accounts of farmers who had grown these high-value crops in the area, Onion and Garlic performed well in Rangayen highlands.
These are the important lessons we learned from conducting Demo and Trial Farms.

(These photos which I took show Sorghum in our Demo Farm in Pigcawaran, Alamada and the Soybeans in Dado, Alamada with outstanding growth in the midlands.)
