The establishment of Village-Level Feed Mills could boost fish, chicken and livestock production in the rural areas of the country.
These facilities will not only produce affordable feeds but also open income opportunities for raw materials producers like corn and grains farmers.
Filipino-American farmer-scientist and I, along with journalist friend Winchell Campos, are setting up a model using a 20-ton per day feed mill owned by a farmers‘ group, the Cotabato Livestock Producers Association in Kidapawan City.
The mill is one of the many established during my stint as Agriculture Secretary.
The Aqua Feeds formulated by French uses local raw materials and will serve small Bangus, Tilapia and Hito farmers in the community.
The mill could later serve as a training center for other farmers‘ groups.
