ROMULO SCION EYES SENATE SEAT IN 2016

By Manny Piñol
Pasig City Congressman Roman Romulo, grandson of great Philippine statesman Carlos P. Romulo and son of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo, is making a bid for the Senate after all.
Romulo, a lawyer who was earlier reported to have given up his plan to seek a Senate seat, was apparently inspired by the prospect of his political idol, Davao City Mayor Rody Duterte running for President.
The Duterte camp earlier announced that the Mayor and his Davao City local party Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod (Alliance of the People of the City) were supporting the Senate bid of eight political leaders, called the “Dream Team 8.”
Included in the list were Senator Serge Osmeña, former Senator Panfilo Lacson, former Senator Miguel Zubiri, Congressman Manny Pacquiao, Congressman Martin Romualdez, Congressman Samuel Pagdilao, Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno and Las Pinas Congressman Mark Villar.
Villar, however, announced recently that the was not pushing through with the plan to run for the Senate.
Romulo completes the “Dream Team 8.”
Duterte said he would personally campaign for his Senatorial bets.
Davao City alone has 1 million voters while the Davao Region where Duterte enjoys a popularity rating of 85% has almost 3 million voters.
