Seller Becomes Buyer Again!

Early this year, while Mindanao was reeling from the effects of El Niño, a Fruit Trader came to my farm and offered to buy my prospected Lanzones harvest.
They are called “Mamakyaway” from the root word “Pakyaw,” meaning to buy lock, stock and barrel.
When the “Pakyawero” came to the farm and offered a considerable amount, there were no flowers or fruits yet.
It was a timely offer because I did not have money at that time.
When the rains came, the over 1,000 Lanzones trees in the farm flowered profusely.
The problem was almost all fruit trees in Cotabato, stressed by the long dry spell followed by heavy rains, also flowered heavily.
Today, Longkong Lanzones sells for P20 per kilo and the fruit trader may end up losing money.
I took pity and offered to buy back the fruits which I intend to give out to friends.
This is one of the reasons why I believe I will never become a rich farmer. 😂
