The Israel Agro-Industrial Company which offered to fund and construct 6,200 units of Solar-Powered Irrigation System (SPIS) on a long-term loan will establish and donate one unit to a group of farmers in Lumban, Laguna which will showcase modern Israeli technology.
The LR Group of Israel which earlier submitted a Letter of Intent to the Department of Agriculture to fund and construct SPIS units to irrigate 500,000 hectares over the next three years made the donation offer during a meeting with DA officials Saturday, March 2.
The LR Group also agreed with Ron Daniel Corporation, a contractor which won a contract to build an SPIS in Region IV A to jointly design the unit in Maragondon, Cavite.
Ron Daniel Corp will provide the civil works component of the project while the LR Group will provide the electromechanical component of the project which includes Solar Array, Pump and Inverters.
Present during the meeting were Ilan Weiss, Avi Elkayam and Gallit Tamir of the LR Group while the DA was represented Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Engineering (BAFE) Director Cristy Polido, Noemi Carpio, Region IVA Director Arnel De Mesa, Deputy Director Enrique Layola and OIC-Chief RAED Mark Aves
Ron Daniel Corporation was represented by Joel Voces and Lin Ning
The meeting with Ron Daniel Corp and LR Group was followed by a meeting with Undersecretary Ariel Cayanan.
The meeting was set to give an update on the ongoing negotiations between the DA and LR Group regarding the P44-B loan offer for Solar-Powered Irrigation System.
