I would like to make this public apology to the organisers of an event in Hong Kong where Overseas Filipino Workers will gather on Sunday to show their support for presidential front runner Rody Duterte.
Earlier, I accepted the invitation of the group led by Kidapawan City resident Ligaya Austria Diez to join them on Sunday.
Yesterday, however, when I and my staff, John Pagaduan, tried to book our flight for Hong Kong, it was discovered that my passport would expire on May 11 of this year.
Pinky Millomeda, also my former staff when I was Governor and owner of a travel agency here in Kidapawan City, said I would not be allowed to travel with a passport which will expire in a month’s time.
I have to admit that I failed to check the expiration date of my passport. It’s a sad development because not only will I not be able to fulfill my commitment to the Hong Kong OFWs but I also will not be able to see Manny Pacquiao’s fight against Timothy Bradley next week.
Through this page, I am extending my apologies to the organisers of the OFW gathering on Sunday.
