By Manny Pinol
The new ‘Star’ of the family, Duane Pinol Solis, first child of my daughter Dr. Maria Krista and husband Chito and my first grandchild, is already two weeks old but I have neither hugged nor kissed him yet.
For the last two weeks, I have been suffering from severe coughing because of dripping sinuses, a recurring condition which I had for so many years now which acts up everytime I am exposed to cigarette smoke and dust.
I have to be content with looking at my first grandchild from a distance, afraid that I might cause him harm.
Duane is now the center of attention especially from his aunt, Josa Bernadette, who dotes on him when she is not on duty in the hospitals and his young uncle, Imman.
Hopefully, I will be able to carry him in my arms very soon.
