Symbiotic Cycle! Chicken Wastes To Fertilize Crops Used In Feeds Making

In the highlands of Alamada, North Cotabato, we have started an experiment in the growing of Sorghum and Soybeans using Chicken Manure Slurry and Organic Foliar Fertilizer.
Two separate plots of one hectare each had been designated for this experiment which if successful could revolutionize farming in the Philippines.
It must be remembered that Sorghum and Soybeans, including Corn, are the most important protein-sources for the production of feeds for both hogs and chicken.
Using the manure from both hogs and chicken to fertilize the crops used in feeding them would be a perfect symbiotic cycle.
(While pig manure could also be used in this experiment, we eliminated it because most of the areas where we are planting Sorghum and Soybeans now are owned by Iranun Muslims who consider products coming from pigs as “haram.”)
The combination of Chicken Manure Slurry and the Organic AMO Foliar Spray will be the only plant nutrients source which will be used in the experiment.
Actually, we had already started using this combination in our Sorghum and Soybean fields with outstanding results in plant growth but this is fortified with a small amount of Inorganic fertilizer like Urea, 21-0-0 and Triple 14.
This combination of Slurry, AMO and Inorganic Fertilizer had already reduced our fertilization cost by over one-half with our expense at below P8,000 from a previous high of up to P16,000 per hectare.
It was AMO Foliar producer former Pangasinan Congressman Eric Acuña who suggested that we conduct tests on the yield results of Sorghum and Soybeans using only AMO and Chicken Manure Slurry.
If this proves successful, not only. will we be producing Non-GMO Organic Sorghum and Soybeans but we will also be reeduce farmers expense on fertilization to less than P5,000 per hectare.
This will also maximize the beneficial use of animal wastes whose disposal is often the cause of conflicts between piggery and poultry farmers and the communities near them.
