Techno Transfer! Local Women Learn To Clean Garlic Cloves

One of the most beautiful scenes I saw this morning was a group of local women cleaning the Garlic cloves to be planted in the Demo and Model Farm in San Vicente, Makilala, North Cotabato.
The women are among the first group of locals trained by Garlic and Onion farmers from San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte who are in North Cotabato to open several Demo and Model Farms in the towns of Makilala, Tulunan, Mlang and Alamada.
The 10 Ilocano farmers were engaged by Vetmate Farma Corp.to teach local people Garlic and Onion farming.
Vetmate Farma Corp., headed by Batangas businessman German Panghulan, is embarking on a program to develop Mindanao’s Garlic and Onion Industry.
The program will not only assure sufficient supply of Garlic and Onion in Mindanao but also generate income for local farmers and jobs for women and out-of-school youth.
