Experts on coffee and cacao production, processing and marketing will be engaged by the Department of Agriculture to conduct nationwide workshops for farmers interested in the commodity.
The workshops will be spearheaded by Undersecretary for High Value Crops Evelyn Laviña and supported by the Agricultural Training Institute.
The decision to conduct a nationwide orientation and training workshop for farmers was reached in a meeting with cacao and coffee advocates, including world renowned coffee expert Ted Lingle.
Those who were in the meeting at the Marco Polo Hotel in Davao City, aside from Laviña and Lingle, were Phillip Dizon of Dizon Farms, Theo Trimmel of MinPact, Owen Scully, Jorge Judan and two others.
The schedule of the workshops to be held in every province will be announced later.
