Yesterday, Negros Occidental 5th District Congressman Atty. Dino Yulo sent me a message asking if I and my team could help his District in crafting an Agricultural Productivity Master Plan.
Of course, I immediately said “Yes” not only because I know Cong. Yulo personally having worked with him when I was Agriculture Secretary and he was a Director of the Sugar Regulatory Administration but mainly because I like his vision.
Cong. Yulo’s District will be the third area which I and my team will assist after Cauayan, Negros Occidental and Cagwait, Surigao del Sur were selected as Model Towns.
The criteria is simple: The initiative must come from the leaders of the political entity and most important of all, there must be political harmony in the area.
Ayaw namin makisawsaw sa local political intramurals.
Besides, it would be easier to work with LGUs whose leaders are united.
This is my answer to those who ask how they could invite my team, the Sufficient Food for Filipinos Action Team (SFFAT), to help them craft a Food Sufficiency Master Plan.
Ours is purely an advocacy group and we do not charge Consultancy Fees.
Since we do not have funds to cover our travels, we require our host to pay for our travel, hotel and food.
Honorarium for the members of my team is not required but it will be appreciated.
Our goal is to guide the LGUs in crafting their Food Sufficiency Strategy and link them up with agencies or the private partners.
It is their Food Sufficiency Plan, we just facilitate in crafting it.
