We have the land! Boost Food Production To Temper Food Inflation

Where is that Financial Genius and fair-haired boy of yesteryears who favored importation as a Policy for Food Security, kasi wala daw area for farming ang Pilipinas?
This is how the upland area of General Santos City, near the boundary of Saranggani Province, looks like and this is just in one village, Balnabo, San Jose, General Santos City.
Soon, this mountain village of about 80 Blaan Families will become a model for Sloping Agricultural Land Technology (SALT) where hedgerows of Pigeon Peas will be used in contour farming.
In between the hedgerows and in the relatively flat areas, Sorghum will be planted which will be bought by SAAV Inc. at a guaranteed price.
Marami tayong nakatiwangwang na lupa, tamad lang kayo maghanap at gumawa ng paraan at ayaw ninyong makinig na presyong maganda lang ang kailangan ng magsasakang Pilipino, hindi subsidy at dole-out.
Now, farmers and consumers suffer because of the flawed Food Security Policy of relying on importation, with Food Inflation shooting through the roofs.
Your wrong policies left the country’s Food Security in a mess but we will stay the course and continue the advocacy to produce more locally.
This administration should learn from the mistakes of the past, that the only long-term and sustainable solution to tame and control Food Inflation is to boost local production and correct the flawed marketing system.
Reliance on importation will only result in food supply instability and volatile food prices.
It will only benefit the traders and importers and this is being proven now.
