The skyrocketing increase in the prices of inorganic fertilizer is not only happening in the Philippines but all over the world.
In the Philippines, the price of a bag of Urea has tripled from P800 over a year ago to P2,700 per bag.
This will have a great negative impact on food production as it would increase the cost of production which in turn will lead to higher food prices.
In the US, farmers have asked the Department of Justice to investigate the unprecedented increase in fertilizer prices.
Back here in the Philippines, however, there seems to be very little concern, except for a few press release, on this issue simply because not very many people understand the negative impact of this problem on food supply and prices.
There are options that I am looking into which I will share with the followers of this page in future posts.
