Yes, ‘wee-wee’ can! Use Urine To Water, Fertilize Your Plants

At an elevation of 1,500-meters above sea level (MASL), the biggest challenge to tree planting is how to water the seedlings.
Yesterday, during the planting ceremonies for the Giant Bamboo and Jackfruit seedlings which I donated to the Regional Police Training Camp in Kapatagan, Digos City, I offered a very practical solution.
Ang bawat isa sa 200 na police trainees should be tasked to plant at least 7 seedlings each at the start of their training.
Every morning, lahat ng mga trainees will be asked to discharge their waste water on one of their seedlings, covering all 7 in one week.
“Dahil wala kayong tubig na pandilig, tuwing umaga, ihian nyo ang inyong halaman,” I advised the policemen led by Brig. Gen. Filmore Escobal.
It was a remark which elicited loud laughter from the policemen.
When I explained that urine contains nitrates which is the raw form of Urea, nakinig sila.
In fact, Urine had long been used as natural fertilizer for plants, that is why kadalasan yong mga prutas sa likod ng bahay ay mas maraming bunga kasi naiihian.
“What are the benefits of using urine in the garden for the home gardener? Urine is composed of 95 percent water. So far, so good, right? What garden doesn’t need water? Dissolved in that water are trace amounts of vitamins and minerals which are necessary to plant health and growth, but the important part is that remaining five percent. That five percent is largely composed of a metabolic waste product called urea, and urea is why urine in the garden can be a very good idea,” according to the website Gardening Knowhow.
So, there you are, hwag sayangin ang ihi.
At kung nahihiya kayo na makita na nagdidilig na nakatayo, puede naman ilagay sa plastic bottle at idilig sa halaman.
Yes, your “wee-wee” can help you grow robust plants.
