In what could be an initial indicator of the hunger of the Filipinos for a leader who could bring about a corruption-free governance and who could protect them from criminals, followers of this page gave Davao City Mayor Rody Duterte an incredible 80% of the first 800 votes in the simple survey for Presidential preference started three days ago.
Listed were six possible Presidential materials and while the Davao City Mayor has consistently turned down requests for him to declare his interest in the Presidency, he was included in the listing.
Those included in the simple survey which I am conducting in this page using Facebook’s polling Apps were Vice President Jejomar Binay, DILG Secretary Mar Roxas, Senators Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and Grace Poe, and Duterte.
As of 6 a.m. today, Duterte was way ahead, really way ahead, getting 644 of the 800 votes registered which represents 80% with Defensor-Santiago and Marcos, Jr. coming in second and third with only 55 and 41 votes, respectively.
Neophyte Senator Grace Poe came in 4th place with 25 votes or 3% while DILG Secretary Mar Roxas was 5th with 23 votes or 3%.
What was shocking was that Vice President Binay, who has consistently been reported by national survey firms as the frontrunner in the Presidential preference, came in last with only 12 votes or 2%.
This could not be considered a conclusive survey since it only involves the followers of this page who obviously are people who agree with my views and preferences.
With the amazing numbers going for Rody Duterte, however, I decided to expand the coverage of the survey.
On Wednesday, using the same Facebook pollings apps, I will boost the survey by targeting at least 1 million readers who are Filipinos from 18 to 65 years old and above living in the Philippines, the U.S., Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Saudi Arabia, Hongkong, Taiwan, Qatar, UAE and Australia.
The formal survey will be launched in the presence media groups who will be asked to document the survey.
As I have stated in earlier posts, I have always been skeptical about the accuracy and reliability of the surveys conducted by national polling groups.
What triggered my decision to conduct a simple survey using the Facebook EPoll apps was the story which quoted a newly-formed group called Novo Trends which claimed that in spite of the negative issues against him, Binay was still the preferred Presidential candidate.
The survey which will be launched on Wednesday will either confirm or belie my suspicion that some survey groups are actually involved in a sinister plot, for a fee, to condition the minds of the people by coming up with doctored survey results to cater to the demands of their sponsors.
