At the Malalag Fish Cage Farming Area yesterday, Fil-Am Farmer/Scientist Rocky French asked one of the workers of Fishcage farmer Jothon Lanzar to slice open a newly-harvested Bangus.
His purpose was to check on the fat content of the Bangus to determine whether the feeds used by Jothon was good quality.
Over a month ago, when I and Rocky visited Jothon, Rocky emphasized to Jothon the importance of monitoring the fat content of his fish to determine which brand of commercial feeds gives him quality products.
Rocky explained that stale and poor quality feeds would not only produce fish with very little fats but could also lead to fish kill.
Yesterday, when we checked on the Bangus, Rocky was very satisfied and it was pointed out that Jothon uses three Aqua Feeds brands in his farm, Cargill, Pilmico and Julu, whichever is available.
Apparently, the three brands are doing good in as far as Jothon’s fishcage farming is concerned.
