A new facebook.com fan page has been created for Overseas Workers from the province of North Cotabato.

This is the first part of my effort to identify and gather data about the sons and daughters of the province who are making great sacrifices for their families by working in far and lonely places abroad.

Cotabato overseas workers are requested to send information about themselves through the message box of the fan page. This information will be for the administrator of the page and myself alone.

Right now, there is no available data which will indicate how many people from North Cotabato are currently working abroad and where.

This is one of the reasons why, in the past, several workers from the Province who encountered problems while working abroad, were not easily reached nor were their relatives back home easily informed of their status.

If by God’s grace I will be able to return as Governor of North Cotabato this year, I intend to create a desk specifically for Overseas Workers Affairs under the Office of the Governor.

We did this during the years that I was Governor to a lesser degree. An officer under the Human Resource Office was designated as the OFW coordinator.

The Cotabato Overseas Workers Affairs Office is planned to offer even legal services to workers who encounter problems abroad and make representation with the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Labor and Employment.
