Pres. Roxas NPA Attack TOP NPA COMMANDER SLAIN IN BOTCHED DAWN RAID

A top commander of the New People’s Army (NPA) was among the three fatalities in a failed attack by communist rebels on a police station in President Roxas town in North Cotabato early today.

Senior Supt. Danilo Peralta, in his spot report to the PNP Regional Headquarters identified the NPA Commander as Commander Revo, reportedly head of a special unit of Front Committee 53 of the NPA.

The two other fatalities on the rebel side have not been identified.

Also recovered after a 30-minute gunfight were an Isuzu Forward truck used by the rebels, two handheld radios, one M16 automatic rifle and M14 assault rifle.

Police also recovered four cellphones and medical kits in the scene of the encounter.

Another rebel who was injured and captured is now at the Amas Provincial Hospital.

The rebels reportedly came in two vehicles, the Isuzu truck which was recovered by policemen and a white multicab which was used by the retreating rebels in their escape.

There were no casualties on the side of the government.
