Regreening Negros! 2 Negros Occidental LGU Start Giant Bamboo Industry

A Southern City and town of Negros Occidental, which had been hit by perennial flooding, will lead the launching of the Giant Bamboo Industry First Quarter of 2023.
In my two separate informal meetings yesterday, hosted by known gamefowl breeder Lance dela Torre, Kabankalan City Mayor Benjie Miranda and Cauayan Mayor John Ray Tabujara said they will plant Giant Bamboos starting February this year.
Priority areas for the planting of the Giant Bamboo will be the deforested upland areas to mitigate flooding.
The two LGUs will also establish processing facilities to establish a complete value chain for the bamboo industry.
Next month, the two Mayors will lead a delegation which will cross the channel between Negros and Mindanao to visit the Giant Bamboo farms and processing facilities in the Southern Island.
They will also explore other potential agricultural activities like Sorghum Farming and Cattle Raising and Fattening in confined areas.
I will personally guide the two Mayors and their delegation in exploring potential livelihood and economic activities for their constituents.
