Following the publication of reports of how the rich and moneyed prisoners are operating criminal and drug syndicates even while inside the National Penitentiary and how the corruption in the courts has slowed down the dispensation of justice, I talked to Davao City Mayor Rody Duterte to get his thoughts on these two issues.
Duterte, who is being pushed by millions to vie for the Presidency, is a lawyer who was a public prosecutor before he was appointed OIC Vice Mayor of Davao City by then President Cory Aquino.
Although he has repeatedly said that he is not interested in the Presidency, I was able to convince him to share his thoughts on very important issues affecting the country today.
What will he do with the corruption in the National Penitentiary where rich prisoners can do whatever they please and where the drug “shabu” is allegedly being manufactured?
What will he do with the very resolution of controversial cases, especially the 4-year-old Maguindanao Massacre?
Read his views on Sunday here in this page.
