Beyond the festive atmosphere, the long colorful caravans, the dancing and the singing, there is one question that we candidates for the Senate, or for any other elective position, should address and that is “Ano ang gagawin mo sa Senado kung ikaw ay mananalo?”
The answer to this question, I believe, is the essence of why we spend long hours talking to people, posting articles on social media and traveling all over the country.
Kadalasan, natatabunan ng sayaw, kanta at ng pagmimimgay ng t-shirt o di kaya pera ang katanungang ito.
It is only when winning politicians fail to deliver when people realize that they had been blinded by the glitz, the sounds and the color of money.
Kahapon, a concerned friend asked me why I was not figuring well in the surveys, in spite of the clear programs I have to attain food sufficiency and generate jobs in this country,
My answer is: I did not join a popularity contest to be decided by 2,000 survey respondents. I am offering myself to over 60-million voters who will decide on Election Day.
They are the real judges not the survey firms otherwise hwag na lang tayo mag-eleksyon at tingnan na lang natin kung sino ang nangunguna sa survey at ibigay sa kanya ang puesto.
Just like applying for a job, candidates should lay down a clear platform and program which they intend to do when they are elected by the people.
As for me, I had long prepared for the day I will be called by the Filipino people to serve them and all the things that I would like to do are already stored in my laptop, ready to be printed and submitted in the plenary hall of the Senate.
Memorized ko na ang gagawin ko. In fact, sa video na ito, wala akong script na binabasa.
My dream is a Food Sufficient Philippines where people have jobs and families are kept together in a happy and safe community.
