Ready to plant! Zamboanga Sur Nursery Sells Agarwood Seedlings

Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur – A nursery owned by farmer-entrepreneur Rey Quisumbing in Barangay Sayao, Kumalarang propagates and sells authentic Agarwood seedlings.
I discovered this today when I dropped by his farm-resort along the highway on the way to Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Agarwood, a tree locally known as Lapnisan, is the source of the very expensive Oud Oil which comes from a black resin produced by the tree when infected.
A kilo of first class quality Agarwood resin could fetch as much as P1-million.
Rey, a graduate of UP Los Baños, has about 8,000 seedlings now ready to be planted.
The seeds come from 32 mature trees he planted in his farm 15 years ago.
