Yesterday, as I was about to leave for an out-of-town engagement, a huge group of farmers came to my farm.
The farmers belonged to an association in the upland village of New Tigbauan in Barangay Kabulakan.
Seeing how they wanted to learn more and knowing that each of them contributed hard-earned money to hire a transport to bring all 52 of them to my farm, I deferred my trip and joined them in making a round of the farm.
Their mission was simply to ask me what other crops they could grow aside from rice, especially in areas without irrigation.
My answer was quick: Sorghum and Soybeans Rotational Farming.
I assured them of technical support, seeds, ready market and guaranteed buying price.
The information made them very happy.
Next week, I and my team will visit the village to conduct an Orientation on Sorghum and Soybeans farming.
After that, the idle areas of the village will be planted with the two new crops.
