Now, that we have located the best Breadfruit Trees based on the size of the fruits, I am calling on the Dept. of Agriculture to follow through with this project by helping the winners establish nurseries for propagation of grafted “Kolo.”
The winners are:
– First Place – 3.910-kilos, Raven Garrido, Barangay Navarro, Socorro, Surigao del Norte;
– 2nd Place- 3.8-kilos An Margaret F. Musico of Banton, Romblon;
– 3rd Place – 3.737-kilos, Lewin Villaflores Kling, Kiamba Saranggani Province.
Breadfruit (sn: Artocarpus altilis) is a tropical tree whose seedless fruits are considered as Super Food which could address food security and environmental protection.
