Mindanao Fruits!

Durian P40/Kg.; Mangosteen P20; Rambutan 3-Kg. P100.
On the way to Gen. Santos City today, I dropped by my favorite fruit stand along the highway in Saging, Makilala to buy fruits as “pasalubong” to my Brother Mason, Arnel Corpuz.
The prices have gone up a bit compared to about two weeks ago but it is still a virtual give away because it is the season of fruits now.
My friends in Baguio City must be salivating reminiscing that time in 2019 when, as Chairman of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), we brought truckloads of Mindanao fruits to the country’s Summer Capital.
Mindanao produces a lot of fruits, including other food items, at very low prices but Filipinos in Visayas and Luzon could not enjoy it because of the high cost of transport.
We have enough food supply in the country but our problem is food repositioning.
With the reactivation of the Food Terminal Inc. and the opening of the Kadiwa outlets, things may change soon.
