Three years after the Mindanao Organic Rice Council (MORCO) was formed by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), Mindanao’s Organic Black and Red Rice finally found a big market – Dubai and the Middle East.
On Thursday, Dubai-based food trading company Nuty Nuty and its Clark-based sister company, MET Air Express, finalized a marketing agreement for organic rice with Don Bosco Cooperative which serves as the consolidator of MORCO products, for Dubai and other Middle East countries.
Aras Iz, Nuty Nuty CEO, and his wife, Fatemeh Moghaddasi representing MET Air Express, also firmed up a supply agreement for organic fruits with National Organic Agriculture Board (NOAB) Director Renato dela Cruz.
Among the fruits included in the marketing list are Papaya, Pineapple and Avocado, including Organic Banana.
The partnership with Mindanao Organic Rice and Fruit farmers comes a full three years after MinDA, during my stint as Secretary, organized to attain a leverage in marketing their produce.
Once again, it has been proven that good things come to those who wait and persevere.
